For a sec, I thought I was at Mad Wednesdays. The words of Maria Davis were playin' in my head: "Now you see that's why our people don't have anything. Because we don't know how to go in places and act properly." Yes I witnessed the madness at the Seaport last night. And I didn't even feel safe in the VIP tent! That Jay-Z club scene in MTV's Diary where he goes after Beans played in my mind. "No one in this stage of my career should be in a situation like this." Damn you B.Dot! What am I doin'? What am I doin'? I'm damn near 40. No Noah Shebib. Seriously I don't blame Drake for the madness. Nor the NYPD. Sadly, I have to blame the good folks at Paper Magazine and the concert organizers. None of the acts performed! You can't have a gang of rambunctious youth standing on top of each for hours with no music or entertainment and not expect things to go ape shit eventually. Where was a DJ? Some tunes could've soothed the savage lil beasts. (No "Hard In The Paint") Hanson or not—this is hip-hop, goddamnit. Gotta give the people what they want or you best protect ya neck.

Analysis: Vince Young needs to prove his maturity to the Titans

By David Climer, The Tennessean

Do you know where your franchise quarterback is?

Hopefully, he's not at a strip club. And he's not being issued a citation for participating in a scuffle.

Say this much for the Tennessee Titans and Vince Young: They keep the offseason interesting. Just when you thought Chris Johnson's constant updates via Twitter about his discontent over his contract were the only story worth following, Young pulled a mini-Pacman.

THE HUDDLE: Chris Johnson says he 'can't play for $550,000'

At a time when Young is intent on establishing himself as the Titans' quarterback of the present and the future, he ran afoul of the law at a Dallas strip club on Sunday morning — all of it under the watchful gaze of a security camera.

In and of itself, this is much ado about very little. No arrests were made. Young will pay a fine that might run as high as $500. Think of it as his style of making it rain.

And despite his hard-line stance on off-field conduct, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell should take the high road on this one. Issue a letter of reprimand if you must, but there is no need for a fine or suspension.

ROGER GOODELL: No decision yet on discipline for Vince Young

No, the bigger issue here is Young's level of maturity and his faulty judgment. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time and doing the wrong thing. And that is not what you want of your starting quarterback — especially one who is facing a crossroads season.

Young needs to understand that just because he went 8-2 in the final 10 games of the '09 season, nothing is guaranteed. Many questions still remain. Sixteen-year pro Kerry Collins is still on the roster for a reason.

To his credit, Young apologized to his teammates and fans for what he called "a big mistake." He indicated he is ready to make amends and put all this behind him.

But it's not quite that easy. What exactly set him off in the first place? A seat too far away from the stage at Club Onyx? The cover charge? Warm beer?

No. Apparently the thing that pushed him over the edge was a derogatory gesture about his college, the University of Texas.

That's it?

Look, I keep hearing people say that big-time athletes constantly are baited in public. Somebody is always trying to provoke a confrontation to get his 10 minutes of fame.

Please. These guys are accustomed to strolling into stadiums where opposing fans are calling for their heads. You think Young didn't see plenty of Longhorns-down gestures when he played at Kyle Field on the Texas A&M campus?

I'm all for school pride and all that stuff, but isn't it a bit silly for an anti-'Horns gesture to prompt such a response? If somebody disses Joe Paterno, should we expect Collins, a Penn State product, to lose it?

It didn't go unnoticed that Titans coach Jeff Fisher took a stern stance on all this. Often in the past, Fisher has handled Young with kid gloves. This time, the gloves came off.

"Vince is walking on his own on this one," Fisher said.

It is the kind of bad call an NFL quarterback must avoid.
